Skaha Bluffs User’s Guide
Important information for all climbers, this coming Easter weekend marks the launch of the new Skaha Bluffs Climbing guide.
Biologist and well-seasoned BC climber Howie Richardson brings an update to his Skaha Bluffs guidebook with an even more comprehensive user’s guide. Replacing the black and white versions of old is a full-colour guide with topographic maps and route descriptions that provide full information on the hundreds of routes in the climbing area.
Mainly known for sport climbing, the popular Skaha Bluffs also has trad routes and the addition of many challenges rated 5.11 and up. A good transition for gym climbers to the outdoor sport, the User’s Guide includes natural history information on species, habitat, landforms and vegetation, for those inclined to investigate beyond the feel of rock on their fingertips.
An observer by profession, conservationist at heart, Howie gives all readers the kindness of knowledge that connects their activity to the environment. He also shares information on climber-friendly watering holes and other invaluable local tips.
Save the date and mark it in your calendar - Easter weekend, April 6-9, 2012. Climb, explore and hit the Sunday evening book launch at the Barley Mill Hotel, Penticton, BC. Howie will be there; say hello, ask questions, or say thanks!
After the weekend, copies of the book will be available at MEC and other good book and outdoor sources.
